Key takeaways
- Multi Pass at Disneyland Resort is bought on the day, in the app, after you enter a park.
- No tiers. One pass covers Lightning Lane attractions in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure with a Park Hopper.
- You may book your next selection after you redeem the current one or after 120 minutes, whichever comes first.
- Premier Pass gives one-time entry to every Lightning Lane attraction in both parks, in limited quantity and at a premium price.
Same-day only, so the morning is the game
Unlike Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort sells Lightning Lane Multi Pass on the day of your visit once you have scanned into a park, subject to availability and at a price that varies by date and can be higher when bought day-of. Your first booking happens the moment you buy, so have the app installed, payment saved and the party linked before you reach the gate.
The 120-minute rule
After each selection you can book the next one either when you tap into the ride or two hours after making the selection, whichever is earlier. A return time five hours out therefore does not lock you for five hours; you get a new pick at the two-hour mark. Stack a far-out headliner, then keep making short-window selections underneath it.
- First pick: the ride with the longest projected standby, even if the window is late. It starts the 120-minute clock.
- Then take whatever returns soonest, ride it, and repeat. Momentum matters more than perfect choices.
- Use Modify to pull late windows earlier as other guests release them. Drops work the same way as in Florida.
Premier Pass
Lightning Lane Premier Pass gives one entry per Lightning Lane attraction in both parks, with no return times, for the day. Quantity is capped and pricing runs into the hundreds of dollars per person, moving with demand. It is a product for one-day visits where the ticket price is small relative to the trip, not a routine purchase.
Rope drop still matters more
Disneyland's compact layout makes rope drop unusually effective: three or four Fantasyland dark rides before 9:00 AM is normal. Disneyland Resort hotel guests receive 30 minutes of early entry to one park each day. Check the park calendar for which park, and plan to be at the gate 45 minutes before it.
Questions people ask
Can I buy Multi Pass before I enter the park?+
No. It is a same-day, in-park purchase at Disneyland Resort. The exception is the Premier Pass, which Disney has sold in advance for select dates; check the official page.
Does Multi Pass include Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers?+
Disneyland keeps a small set of headliners as Single Pass purchases outside Multi Pass, and the set changes. Look at the attraction list in the app before buying.
