The playbook: ten rules that work at every park

Product names change every season. These do not.

  1. 1

    Own the first sixty minutes

Rope drop is the only free skip-the-line pass at every park on earth. Be at the gate 45 to 60 minutes before the earliest entry you qualify for.

  2. 2

    Book the scarce thing first

At every window, the first tap goes to the attraction that sells out fastest, not the one you like most. Everything else will still be there.

  3. 3

    Modify, never cancel

The modify screen shows live availability while you keep what you hold. Cancelling first is how people end up with nothing.

  4. 4

    Stack windows back to back

Timed-return systems give you a new pick when you redeem. Early, tight windows compound into a day of Lightning Lanes.

  5. 5

    Sleep where the perk is

Early entry, longer booking windows and free Express are all sold as a room. Price the room against the passes it replaces.

  6. 6

    Know each system's clock

7:00 AM Eastern for Walt Disney World. 2:00 PM Japan time for Tokyo tickets. The moment you scan in for Disneyland, Paris and Tokyo passes.

  7. 7

Split large parties on the request

Two slots free up far more often than eight. Ask for smaller groups and ride together anyway when times overlap.

  8. 8

    Second drops exist

Sold out means sold out right now. Guests release slots all day; someone watching at the right second gets them.

  9. 9

Choose the day before the pass

A mid-week date in the same week is often cheaper, available and half as crowded. No pass beats a good calendar.

  10. 10

Let a machine watch the drops

A thumb refreshes every ten seconds when it remembers. A monitor never stops. That is what PassSkipper does for Walt Disney World.

How these guides are kept honest

Every guide lists the official pages and independent sources it was checked against and the date we last did it. We publish ranges instead of prices, say "check the app" where a rule changes by date, and never promise availability. If you find a rule that has changed, tell us at the contact page and we will re-verify it.

Reading about drops is slower than catching them

PassSkipper watches Walt Disney World Lightning Lane availability around the clock and requests a matching window for your whole party the moment one appears. Linked through Disney's official Friends & Family code, no password. First 2 bookings free.
